Suggestions for accomodation in Florence (4 nights) Dec 27-30, 2013

Hi,
We are looking for well located accomodation Florence for 4 nights.
We are arriving by train and hope to do sightseeing in Florence for 3 full days and a day trip to somewhere like Sienna on day 4.

We need 2 nice comfortable double rooms (4 adults), non smoking, heated and all the conveniences of a hotel / boutique hotel centrally located with access by foot to most major sights. We like to be in the 'happening' area of Florence travelling with two adult children (18 and 22)

Budget is 180-200 Euros per room per night.

Thanks to all those who would respond for your help.

We stayed last year at hotel L'orologio. It is a 5 minutes walk from the SMN station and is in the Santa Maria Novella square. We walked everywhere from here.
We really liked this hotel, rooms are small but service is good and the breakfast great. It may be slightly over your budget ( they currently have a pre pay rate of €210 .

We had a vast room in part of a palazzo at the Hotel de Paris, just down the street from the Duomo. They have a modern section as well. It might be -- might be -- cozier in winter though our AC, fridge bath etc all worked well. Good breakfasts, accommodating staff who speak English, a short walk from the SMN. In your price range.

We stayed at the Davanzati Hotel and loved it. Happy hour, good breakfasts, good-sized rooms, very quiet, centrally located, and the staff is exceptional. It's a family-run hotel. They put the guests first and treat them like family. Looking forward to our next visit.

We loved Il Salotto di Firenze, a B&B (literally) right around the corner from the Duomo. Take 10 steps and the Duomo is looming before you. It was a great location and convenient to everything. It was also impossible to get lost. No matter where we wandered, if we found the Duomo- we found our B&B. The reception staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were nicely appointed. We loved hearing the bells from the Duomo and standing on the balcony people-watching on the street below. We would definitely stay there again if we are fortunate enough to find ourselves in Florence. It's been a year and we still talk about it!
