STA airfare to london?

Does anyone have any experience with using www.sta.com to find tickets from Pittsburgh, PA to London (heathrow)? I found a fare for 271 plus all the taxes and fees for March 28 or 29 to April 6 or 7th. Is this a good fare? Where else can I look?

It would be a good idea to share what those taxes and fees are, rather than having us visit the site ourselves to find out - - but assuming they are under $100, this seems to be a pretty good deal - - or clever/effective guerilla publicity seeking - - or both. I did go visit the site, and $319 was the lowest I saw (plus $35-85)

The lowest comparable fare on www.orbitz.com right now is over $600 - - taxes included I think. Lowest on travelocity are $409-419 (also taxes included, I think) - - looking for ANY dates (latest departure Mar 20 or maybe 21, returns as late as Apr 20)

Best wishes,

Rex
What are the guidelines of using STA? Do you have to be a student to get the discounts? If you buy the tickets on line, how can they check if you are not a student?

They make sure that you are a student by checking your student ID either when you check-in or are ticketed.

When you travel as a student, you always have to show your ID card (ISCA card?? something like that) to get these reduced fares.

If you are not a student, but are under 26, there may be other reduced fares that you can get. Call STA and see what their rules are.

I bought an STA airline ticket when I was a student, and they definitely made me show my ID at some point. All other times I tried to use a student discount, they were very careful to check my ID.

If you're over 26 and not a student, you will unfortunately have to suffer with the rest of us

As a side note: taxes to fly into Heathrow are among the highest around: usually $60 - $100.

Icelandair usually has good deals to London -- I got a fare that matched your STA price for March. Try their web site.
