Special Restaurant in Copenhagen

We are leaving for a cruise from Copenhagen at the end of May. We'll be there with a friend who is having a "big" birthday. Does anyone have a restaurant recommendation for the night we'll be there so we can celebrate? Thanks so much.

I don't live in Copenhagen, but may be able to help anyway. There are many restaurants, so to be able to help:

Any special kind of food you like or fancy?
Max price range per person?
Where do you stay in Copenhagen?

The last question is not that important, because Copenhagen is a very walkable city, but it is nice if one can find a place 'close to home' and taxis are expensive.

By the way:

The New York Times has a new article, "The Coming of Age of Copenhagen’s Nordic Cuisine" at http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/05/04...amp;ref=travel. That might whet your appetite ;-)

As Eric mentioned it all depends on your taste and budget. However, should I mention a few very special restaurant, I would visit one of the following gourmet restaurants:

- The Paul (modern French cuisine, located beautifully in Tivoli gardens)

- NOMA (2-Micheline stars, innovative Scandinavian cuisine)

- Kiin Kiin (exclusive Thai cuisine, located in boheme area)

- Paustian (focus on molecular gastronomy)

The mentioned restaurants are pricey (min. 300 USD per person inkl wine menu). If you thought of something more inexpensive, there are many good alternatives - just let me know.

Enjoy... ;-)

NOMA is amazing. It is steadily climbing the world rankings, placing #10 on this year's Top 50 Restaurants in the World. Definitely a great experience.

For great Japanese-French food in a high-style setting, Umami is great.

I also really like the restaurants at Custom House.
