Sligo and Western Ireland
My wife and I will arrive in Shannon on June 5th. We fly out of Shannon to Edinburgh on June 11th. We have a reservation at a castle in Galway on the 8th. My family came to the US from Sligo so we are definitely going there. What we can't figure out is whether we should go to Sligo first and work our way down the west coast or start out in the southwest (Ring of Kerry) and then work our way north. We know that we can't see it all in six days so we think we should stick to the west coast. We are are renting a car and have vouchers for B&Bs. We don't have any other definite plans so any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

In your planning be sure to take day of the week into consideration for visiting Sligo. We went through there on a Sunday--hoping to see a special bookstore with lots of books on Yeats, etc. Most places were closed. Also, just before you get there be sure to visit the little town with Yeats' grave and oft-quoted epitaph.

I would start in the SW and work my way up to Galway, then Sligo and then back to Shannon. Don't plan to go TOO Far the first day and avoid the temptation to SEE IT ALL.
5th: Kinsale.
6th: Kenmare or Killarney
7th: Dingle
8th: Galway
9th: Sligo
11th: Shannon, Ennis or Bunratty

itsmlf-what is David's last name?
While visiting my mom who lives in Co. Roscommon recently, I met a man who owns a guesthouse possibly near there (Rathmines) but I forgot to get his card...his last name was Gallegher I believe...he was in Co. Roscommon visiting with family...
he was very nice and I'd like to stay at his place next time in that area...
Thanks,
Shadow
