Sister-in-law needs info for 1st trip to Paris & London

My sister-in-law is meeting up with her son in Paris for her first trip out of the US. I found her a good fare on Air France out of ewr to cdg and then from cdg to lhr and lhr to ewr. She wants to do a couple of days in London with her son on the way back. We have been to Paris many times and always stay in the Marais. I am not sure if she would like staying there or would prefer another area. Can anyone give advice for lodgings for a person in her situation for both Paris and London. Thanks

It depends on what your sister-in-law is like. Have you told her about the Marais area? Alot of people love that district. But the other districts are quite popular as well so it depends on the individual.

I haven't really spoken with her about the marais, only Paris in general. I'm sure we will speak much more about the city after she returns and can compare notes. I like the atmosphere of the marais, but really should speak with her. She is going fairly soon, October 19. She just decided and is not sure how much her son will know about Paris, so they may be touring for the first time together. I know alot of people seem to like the left bank and areas that are convenient to doing all of the major tourist sites. I would say that the marais is very convenient to all of the above, but I read on this forum that alot of people like the left bank.

Honestly, it may be a little difficult to book a hotel for October as it's high season there.

You may want to check www.laterooms.com for last minute bookings.

There are plenty of posts here about Paris hotels in all the most popular areas, so you could do a search. Without knowing more about your sister-in-laws "situation" I'm not sure anyone can offer any more personal advice than what you'd find through a search.
