Self-Serve Laundry: Brandenburg Gate

Spending a week a block from the Brandenburg Gate and was hoping someone could assist me with a self-service laundry within walking distance...

Much obliged, bdj.

If you Google "Wäscherei Berlin Brandenburger Tor" you will get a list of laundromats labelled A-E and a map. I think one of the more convenient ones for you would be the Pinguin Textilpflege (which is in the Friedrichstrasse U Bahn / S-Bahn station):

http://www.textilreinigung-pinguin.d...iedrichstrasse

We found it hard to find Waschsalons / Wäschereien when we were there last year and this one, being in a station, would be easy to access from a number of locations. There is a good chance that your accommodation will have some information on the closest laundromat.

The best source will be your landlord. Ask 'em.

lavandula,

thanks for the link but from what i can surmise, it's for a laundry service and not a self serve laundry. can you clarify?

much obliged...bdj

Yes, I think you are right - reading more closely they say they wash everyday clothing and bedclothes but also dryclean garments too. We had a similar experience in finding self-serve laundromats.

Another I've found is :

http://www.waschsalon-berlin-mitte.de/angebot.html

which seems to be paired with a café. I think that might be self-serve - at any rate they list the prices for service on the link I've given you. But this is starting to be quite a distance away, even if it is Mitte. Did you google like I suggested? That way you can see how far-flung the possibilities are on the map. Another one which came up in the search which looks close is the Wäscherei of Stiftung Synanon, but this looks to be run by an institute which promotes life without drugs. Kind of an odd combination of lines of business ...?

Address: Bernburger Straße 10, 10963 Berlin, Germany
Phone:+49 30 55000700
Hours: · 7:30 am - 6:00 pm (check days by ringing, the website I got this from had 'open today' and I have no idea if this is true for example for Sundays.)

There may well be ones that don't come up on the radar via Google. You might find machines in your building in a shared laundry (does happen sometimes), or if you are a bit cheeky, in a nearby youth hostel. If you can talk to the people at the desk they might let you use their facilities.

Lavandula,

I did a hard-target search for self-service laundries prior to posting. Finding a number of laundry services but no self-serves within walking distance.

It was my hope to find lightening in a bottle in the Fodor's forum from a local or fellow traveler who stumbled upon one that flies under the Google radar.

I have been informed by the management of the apartment building that there is a 50/50 chance of a washing machine in my apartment, no dryer.

This is a duck I would like to get in row prior to leaving. Thank you for your assistance.

Is this one week a part of a longer trip? (I have never needed to do more than rinse out a few things on my trips of two weeks duration).
