Sechselaeuten in Zuerich anyone?

I am thinking about travel to Switzerland next April, as a reward for quitting my job. Zuerich is hosting Sechselaeuten on April 17-18...Burning of the Boogg/Chasing away Winter.
Has anyone experienced this tradition?
I see that there is a big parade of the Guilds, all in traditional dress.
Are there booths/stands selling foodstuffs/crafts?
I have been to Switzerland many times already, am seeking to experience more of the customs/ festivals.

My other interest is Biertage Solothurn, 28-30 April....but I can't stay long enough for both .

wow, big step Mokka4! Congrats on having the courage & strength to make the change.

Sorry I don't have any specific advice; as usual, though, I'll be following your preparations.

Hope all the plans roll out smoothly!
