Scotland: Mellerstain House or Floors Castle?

Which would you choose?

Ps. Having a lovely second day in the Borders. Could not have asked for better weather since we arrived in Scotland last Thurs. so far we've done Melrose and Dryburgh Abbey (Dryburgh the favorite), Traquair House, Scott's view, Melrose and Peebles. Hoping to go to Holy Island tomorrow and up the coast to St. Abbs. We also went to Fraser Castle last Saturday.

Both are wonderful. I'd probably choose based on where you are and which is nearer.

Muellerstain is different than most other castles/houses you'll visit with all the Adam interiors.

It really doesn't matter because its all we need to do Friday before heading to Edinburgh late afternoon.. B&B is in Galashiels.

oops - sorry for the typo.

I love the Mellerstain interiors and the Floors gardens. You could actually manage both fairly easily. Floors opens in the morning and Mellerstain House doesn't open til 12:30 (the house - the grounds open and hour earlier)

If you get to Floors by 10 or 10:30 and stay til 1:30-ish - driving over to Mellerstain only takes about 20 minutes.

We did get to Lindisfarne and it was worth it. In Edinburgh currently. Looks like the first rainy day since we got here last Friday. I can't believe how ideal the weather has been.
