R/T Chantilly-Senlis Bus Schedule and Restaurant Rec.
Thanks to a Fodor's search, I've got the info needed for a day trip to Senlis, which may or may not include Chantilly (I've been there but DH hasn't).
I have the SNCF - RER D schedules, round trip between Paris and Chantilly.
Does know the frequency of the buses between Chantilly and Senlis and then back to Chantilly and how late they run?
Is there a site for bus schedules that where I can print out the into?
We will probably visit Chantilly first, take the bus to Senlis, take the bus back to Chantilly and the RER back to Paris.
Any suggestions for dinner in either Senlis or Chantilly (since we have to go back there anyway.)
Travelnut... maybe we'll be there at the same time - the second, third or fourth week of September.
Thanks,
Nina

Ha, I'm on my umpteenth iteration of the itinerary. I don't think we're going to make it to Chantilly but I have saved all the info and brochures, b/c one day we will get there. (I hope Dave and RonZ don't kill me).
The RER is outside of the zone covered by the Carte Orange, fyi...
I couldn't find anything much about the bus - when you come out of the Chantilly gare, see if you can find the bus station to your left - maybe there is a schedule posted. Or when you're getting off at Senlis, see if the driver can give you a couple of times the bus comes back 'round.
You can get your RER schedule off bahn.de
We're definitely going to Rouen - I rec'd the train tickets in the mail on Saturday! and maybe Chateau de Sceaux, which is on the RER-B line...

Thanks Travelnut. I got the mo my info from your questions and responses and from SNCF.
You'll enjoy Rouen, it's a nice day trip, easy transportation and interesting to walk around.
I won't be purchasing any advance day trip tickets, we will play it by ear - armed with lots of notes. We've done most of the day trips discussed, and Dave made Senlis sound interesting and worthwhile.
Our favorites are Giverny and Vaux le Vicomtes (sp?) but you really need a car for that one. Rail/drive works well.
Any bus info or dinner suggestions?

Nina,
I don't think you can have dinner in Senlis if you're returning from Senlis to Chantilly by bus. As I recall, the buses don't run very late. Did you try Senlis on the SNCF site? The bus service is provided by the SNCF, though it's contracted. In Chantilly, we used to dine at a very pleasant crepe place called the Cour Fleurie toward one end of the town's main drag (farthest from the chateau, there is, or was, another on the same street nearer the chateau). They had tables in the courtyard as well as inside and the courtyard is well off the street. A colleague went there last year and liked it, too

Thanks Dave. I hadn't realized that I could get the also get the connecting bus info from SNCF. I had only checked on the RER to and from Chantilly.
The last bus leaves Senlis at 8:00PM, so it would have to be a very early dinner, or dinner in Chantilly as you suggested.

this site gives bus schedules (about hourly) for Senlis - Creil SNCF station - CDG airport. so unless you must go back to Chantilly this may be the best route.

Thanks PalQ. There is no reason to go back to Chantilly, direct transportation would be perfect. In fact we may skip Chantilly altogether as I have already been there and who cares if the DH sees it , JUST KIDDING. We can just take the bus from there to Senlis. I'll check out the site that you gave me.
