Rome: Airport to Hotel (on via San Basilio) . . What's the best way to get there?

This week (Friday Morning). We will be a group of 4 with luggage. What is the best way to get to our hotel from the airport. What are my options and How much would it cost?

Thanks

I would use an airport shuttle rather that a taxi in Rome since the airport is quite a distance from the city center. You will find several options if you do a search for airport shuttles in Rome. Try www.tourome.com/pickup.htm. They are quoting a rate of 42 E with a private Mercedes, not a bus with several other stops before reaching your hotel in a very tired state of mind, for 4 people and can be booked on line before you leave. I just returned from the Eternal City for New Year's and found it to be as magical as ever. Have a great trip.

Hi Dan,

The shuttle train from FCO to Roma TE is 9.5E pp. You'll want a cab from there to your hotel.

A shuttle service from the airport will be more convenient at about the same price.

We paid 40 euro for a car service from FCO to Piazza Farnese. This was arranged through the company we rented our flat from, so I don't have a company name. It was so easy--the driver met us in arrivals.

Stayed in the Aleph last time we were in Rome...had a great stay. Just be ready for a very friendly and helpful staff who dress entirely in black; take in the Sophia Loren murals in the elevators; particularly the one in which she is throwing the hot pasta into some poor fool's face; the hotel is in a great location about a block from the Metro and the bottom of the Via Veneto (unless you love being nearer to the Spanish Steps..we don't)...enjoy your stay..fun hotel.

This is what I found on the airport shuttle site. What's the difference between Rome city center and Rome downtown? We're staying at Casa Il Rosario (Via S. Agata dei Goti).

From Rome city center to FCO airport & viceversa
1 Passengers
€ 26,00

Each additional passengers - up to 8 € 6,00

From Fiumicino airport to Rome downtown add € 11,00

No extra charge for waiting time
Night Service from 10 pm to 7 am add 30%
