Reykjavik / Akureyri

Does anyone have a recommendation for private tours in Reykjavik and Akureyri, Iceland? Thanks.

Don't know about private tours, but you could look at http://www.re.is/.

If you mean tours in those cities, you really don't need them/ Reykjavik and especially Akuureyri are small places, and you can walk almost everywhere by yourself.

You can see much of Reykjavik on your own, but there are some tours, both group and private, that might make some things easier for you.
Here is a link to my report from May, and at the end are several web site and tour info sites that might help you choose.

I was in Iceland two years ago. I didn't book anything ahead of time. When I arrived in the hostel, I booked several one day tours. The Blue Lagoon, the Lava tunnels tour and the Ring tour.

The KEF airport is located about 30 minutes from downtown so I did the Blue Lagoon tour on the way to the airport. I felt nice and clean on the plane. If you fly up to Akureyri, the airport for that city is right downtown.

Everyone speaks English and most tours that I took were small.

I don't know what would be considered "high time" for Iceland, but we went this past May, and had planned to go to the Blue Lagoon our first night there - our plane was delayed 30 minutes, and we missed it.

We were able to move around some of our other plans to accomodate a trip there, but if you want to be sure you get on one of the tours for anything and even if a private tour, I would book the important ones if not all of them beforehand -

there were no spots left on one of the day tours we were doing and there were several disappointed people in the lobby of our hotel, so I am a proponent of booking what matters to you ahead of time.
