rental car to Bosnia
I'm looking to rent a car for my Croatia trip including a drive to Bosnia (Mostar). So far have only found Economy Car Rentals that would allow me to do it. Does anyone know any other companies that would let you drive to Bosnia from Croatia? The rate I got from Economy Car Rental is much higher ($1000 for one week for a minivan) than Autoeurope but the latter says on its web site travel to Bosnia is not allowed. Thanks for your help in advance.
(sorry for the double posting - I'm reposting this to the Croatia/Bosnia forums or better response.)

Hi,
I have reserved a car through Sixt Rental (www.e-sixt.com). Pickup and dropoff are both in Croatia but the contract does allow for Bosnia/Montenegro crossing. Hope this helps. I have included the text from the contract below:
For Croatia it states "Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegowina, Czech Republic, Denamrk, Finland, France, Germany, Great-Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican City. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi vehicules may not be taken into:
Bosnia & Herzegowina, Hungary and Serbia & Montenegro. "

We are renting a car from sixt through Autoeurope so you might want to check with both to see which way you get the best price. Autoeurope quotes in dollars in can be cancelled up to that day. If you drop the car early you get a refund.
I don't know how Sixt quotes.

Iris,
Did Autoeurope tell you the car can be taken to Bosnia? I checked with them before but they told me among all the dealers they represent, only Hertz allows me to drive to Bosnia. But Hertz's rate is much higher than others. Just wonder.

If you are using your cc insurance
better check with them to make sure
you are covered. We always use ae
and pay for the trip in advance so we
don't get stuck with cc conversion fees. If you turn the car in early you
can get a refund.
We took a day's tour to Mostar.

Winnie,
When we originally called some weeks ago Autoeurope gave us a quote using National. They said we could take the car into Bosnia but there would be an additional $3.00/day charge for the total number of days of the car rental and not just the days we would be in Bosnia. Because of our itinery we decided we would take the bus from Dubrovnik to Mostar, stay there overnight and then take the bus from Mostar to Split and p.u. the car in Split. At least that's our current plan. FYI we're paying $33.72/day for or $370.92 for 11 days for a Volkswagen Polo w/manual transmission and a/c.
Incidentally, we got a lower price using their 800 number than we saw on the internet. 1-800-835-1555 And the fellow that helped us was a wealth of information. His name is CJ and he is at ext. 1344.
Hope this helps.

I might be able to get you a low price on the rental. My agency works with a number of car rental companies in Croatia. Can you send me an email telling me the pick up place & date/time and drop off place & date/time? I will then send you a quote.
