I am traveling to London (4 days) and Paris (4 days) in about 2 weeks. I, unfortunately, won't have the time to just relax and take in each city. My biggest question is for London...I will arrive early morning, considering jet lag, what would be the best plane for Day 1? Also, was thinking of taking a day trip from Paris to Brugge, is this a bad idea?

If you're concerned that you won't have "the time to just relax and take in each city", taking a day trip to Bruges is just going to add to this reality.

For your Dy 1 question: will you have any other time to sight see? It sounds like you're on a business trip, or am I misreading your post?

If you are getting to see the sights on your other days, it's often suggested that you spend a good deal of time outdoors, as the natural light will help your body adjust to the time change. What day of the week are you arriving? An outdoor market could be fun, or wandering to some of London's major churches; St Paul's would be good; Trafalgar Square. I wouldn't suggest being indoors at a museum much that day.

I think on such a quick trip, it would be a mistake to leave Paris. As you say, you won't have time to relax. Why add more dashing about to your schedule?

Unless you actually have extra days for arriving, changing cities, and departing, you're already short of time for two endlessly fascinating, historical and entertaining cities.

like the other suggest stay outdoors on day one. Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace/Green Park, and the Embankment opposite the Tower of London are great places to walk. Why the day trip to Bruges? It's cute but WAYYYY out of the way. If it's a quaint picturesque village you want Rouen or Normandy are much closer

Thanks, Everyone! We will arrive on a Tuesday, around 9:30 a.m. Thanks for the tips on staying outside! Hopefully it won't be raining I love Bruge and saw a day trip was available on one of the many sites I was searching when we booked the trip, but am thinking it would be mostly a day of traveling than a day of enjoying that beautiful little village.

No it is not a business trip, but only 8 days for those 2 cities, then I will go on to the Netherlands for 5 days but my aunt will be going back to the States.

Why don't you spend 3 days in London then travel to Bruges for 1 or 2 nights and then continue to Paris.

That would have been a good idea but we already have our hotels for both London and Paris.

if the weather's nice and you want to relax, a trip on the river to hampton court might be pleasant. either get the boat or the train back.

There's so much to see and do in Paris in 4 days, don't waste time traveling some where else. Brugge is nice, but it'd take too much time to get there from Paris relative to the time you have for the trip.

Okay, Brugge is out...we'll find plenty to do in Paris, I know that! I just don't know when I'll get back and I love Brugge as well..sigh...never enough time!
