Questions Regarding Reservations for Venice/Florence Sites

Hi,

We plan to make reservations for Uffizi and Accademia in Florence and found the phone numbers to reserve on this site (011 39 055-294-883)

We think we would do well to book for these as well, but I haven't found central booking number...

Palazzo Vecchio (Activities Tour)
Duomo (including crypt)
Medicee Chapelles

For Venice we found the number to book the Doge Palace Secret Itineraries tour 011 39 41 520 9070 and an interesting "ghost tour", but that is all. Anything else we should be booking in advance?

Thanks,

Naxos

I highly recommend reserving Basilica San Marco in Venice. It's so nice to walk past that long line that snakes out into the middle of the square.

Thanks Susan! We are adding the Basilica and your link to our Reservation list.

Cheers,

We are going to be in Venice in mid March and I tried to go on the link that Susan gave for reservations for St Mark's Basilica and found that all the dates indicated "closed". Does anyone have a phone number or another way to reserve? Also, is it better to have an official tour guide to do the Doge Palace and Basilica or can we go through ourselves with headphones?

Thanks for your help!

I tried the Alata website for our trip in 2005 and ALWAYS got the same answer: CLOSED. I have been checking the same site for the past 6 months for our trip in April, guess what; Closed every day for every month.

It seems to me that I've read of other people having this problem. Keep trying much closer to your trip date. I used this site successfully twice, two years ago and again this past July. Sometimes it doesn't show availability until close to the date.

There is no availability for February, March or April according to their website. I have tried 3 different web browsers to be certain the site didn't like my browser.

Naxos, ask your hotel if they can get a reservation for you. Give them as many day/time options as possible.

If you make a reservation for San Marco Basilica, is this just for an entry time or is this for a tour? Also, is it necessary to make a reservation for entry into the Doge's Palace & Ca' Rezzonico? Thanks!

The reservation is just for entry, although another link at the very bottom of the website leads to guided tour information.

Regarding the online reservation for San Marco Basilica: possibly the page will be working next month. From the link given by SusanP,click on "booking" at the top, between the link for Venice Card and Itineraries. Then, under the picture of the Basilicia, (the middle column, bottom)it says that the service is available April - December.
