We will be based in Uzes for 7 nights the 2nd week of September, allowing 5 full days for touring (with car). It's difficult to choose an itinerary with so many beautiful places in a relatively short distance. We don't like to cram too much into a day and feel like we we had to rush. I would appreciate suggestions.
Thanks,
Les

Look for postings by StuDudley. He'll even share itinerary's with you if you want. Up at the top of the page type Stududley in the box labeled Search the Forums, he has tons of advice and lots of people ask him or he has commented on lots of postings about Provence.
Read through that and you'll be amazed at how many of your questions will be answered. Personally I would center on Avignon (becasue Uzes is really west for Provence,IMO - almost Langedoc), but you're there - close by. One day might be Nimes to the south and Pont Du Gard of course is close by too. St Remy and maybe Arles in a day. I'd give a full day to Avignon i think but with only 5 days to wander, I might suggest going for a theme. That is, do you like Roman Ruins or are you more interested in wines? That way maybe you can focus on the cities and villages that provide that stuff. Beware - you can spend weeks in Provence and not have enough time, so don't try to see everything in 5 days. Instead focus and enjoy what you do have time for. You'll come back to see the rest.
Thanks Joe, will do.
Uzes is wonderful but not in Provence. It's in the Languedoc-Roussillon region but you will love the plaCe and it's Saturday Market.. Avignon is 2o miles north, so looking at the map you will see where you might want to visit.
I adore Provence(and Uzes)
We had more time, but here's what we did on our first Provence trip 2 years ago: http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?token=945135957308%3A540606391
We're very much looking forward to our second visit in September!
