Pre-book ferries
Wife and I will be traveling to Athens, Santorini and Myknonos last weekend of August. Would anyone recommend that we pre-book our ferry reservations, or is there usually enough availability to book once we are in-country? Thanks!

It partly depends on the type of boat. Strictly speaking "ferries" are the big steamships, and these are big enough to almost always have tickets available. There are also big fast boats, sometimes called catamarans, which also usually have seats but can sell out. Then there are the hydrofoils, usally called Flying Dolphins, which often sell in high season on routes to popular islands, especially on weekends and holidays, and especially for the ones leaving/arriving at convenient times. Since you're going to the most popular islands on a weekend in high season, you should probably book in advance.

The large car ferries, such as the Blue Star Paros or Naxos will always have deck space so tickets aren't necessary. But the smaller highspeed cat between Mykonos and Santorini provides the only direct means of travel between these two islands so advance reservations are most definitely recommended
