Hello again Fodorites! Thank you so much for your help with my last question. We were able to add an additional day to our trip to give us 14 nights. Also, we opted to keep Capri in our plans as I'm not sure when/if we will be back to this area in Italy and we would really like to experience it to the fullest. However I am wondering if we will have enough to do with 9 days spread out between Sorrento and the coast. I realized that many visitors here spend time at beaches and pools but we really aren't beach or pool people. We might spend a couple of ours lounging but not an entire afternoon.We prefer to keep fairly busy. We would like to have one or two things to do most days with ample time to enjoy lunches and dinners taking in the breathtaking views. Here is what I have planned:

Day 1: Arrive Naples, transfer to Sorrento. Spend rest of the day exploring Sorrento.
Day 2: Day trip to Pompeii
Day 3: Day trip to Naples
Day 4: Ferry to Capri, spend the day relaxing, exploring Capri town
Day 5: Boat trip around the island, visit Anacapri, chairlift to the top of Monte Solaro
Day 6: Transfer to Positano, explore the town
Day 7: Day trip to Amalfi, Ravello and Atrani
Day 8: Day trip to Salerno and Vietri sul Mare for ceramics
Day 9: ?
Day 10: Hydrofoil to Salerno, train to Rome, settle into apartment
Day 11 - 14: Explore Rome, possible day trip to Orvietto
Day 15: Fly home to Toronto

I'm not sure how long these excursions take. Should I add in other stops to our days in Positano? Any suggestions as to what to do on Day 9? I had thought about Paestum but it seems to require a lengthy travel time.Or should I add this day to Rome? Not quite sure what to do. Does this itinerary sound reasonable? Thanks again for all your help!

I am with you on the beach time. We have plenty of beaches in CA. I sure do not want to go to Italy and spend time on the beach. I would suggest more time in Rome. Lots to see there.

Giacinta, I think your plan looks great. Day 9 I would just leave open. Personally I would stay in Positano, taking the Da Adolfo boat to Laurito beach, where you have a fantastic lunch at Da Adolfo and relax on the beach for as long as you like, then take the boat back to Pos. On your arrival day, you could also take the Discover Positano tour, which I found very informative and tasty. You could also rent a boat or take a private boat tour of the area. Once of you nights in Pos, take a taxi or the bus to Hotel Il San Pietro and have drinks on the terrace watching the sun set over Positano - just magical.

You will see when you get there that everything runs on a different pace in the south, even for Italy!

Thanks Milcar1. I am looking forward to our time in Rome. I know there is so much to see there but after talking to the DH, I believe we will go to Rome in future. I don't know when we will be back to the Amalfi Coast as we have so many trips on the bucket list! So I think we will leave it to 5 nights in Rome.

Ekc, thank you for all of your suggestions. They all sound like things we would love to do. I googled the Discover Positano tour and it sounds great. We will definitely do a boat tour also. I tend to go on holidays (at least to Europe) with plans for each day, but it might be nice to just "wing it" once in a while! Thanks again!

No problem G. I also tend to be a real "planner", but my last trip, which was to Positano and Rome, really showed me the beauty of leaving a little time open to experience Dolce Far Niete!
