Places to stay in Culemborg Netherlands
A friend's college-age son has netted an internship in Culemborg for three months this summer.
It is a long period of time for a hotel, yet shorter than most leases. Since he is not yet there, his family is trying to make arrangements last distance.
Does anyone have any ideas on places that might work for a stay of this length? I told my friend that if anyone would know, Fodor's people would know.

I am not that familiar with Culemborg tbh, but I do know there are some dodgy areas in the town.
There are plenty of Dutch sites offering places to rent, but whether they would offer a three month contract I don't know.
Rents are pretty high at the moment due to the collapse in the housing market so that is something else to consider. Also most rentals will be unfurnished.
Maybe the company your son is going to can help with suggestions?
Here are a couple of websites (in Dutch!) with furnished accommodation in Culenborg:
http://huizen.mitula.nl/huizen/te-hu...g-gemeubileerd
http://huizen.trovit.nl/te-huur-culemborg-gemeubileerd
http://huizen.marktplaats.nl/huizen-...culemborg.html
That last one has some holiday chalets listed, which your son could certainly rent for 3 months, but they may not be very accessible for him if he doesn't have a bike/car.
http://rotsvast.nl/nl/Zoeken/te-huur...ning-ref32-92/ this one is for expats, but it is expensive, and gas electric and water are extra.
Good luck with your search!

Thanks for your suggestions. I knew that if anyone would have ideas, it would be someone on fodors.
(It is actually my friend's son.)
I'll pass along the information. The internship starts soon and she is getting worried.

There aren't any "dodgy areas he should avoid", but crime concentrates in Terweijde, a suburb in the south-east part of the town. Especially the area around the Chopinplein, a small shopping centre in between blocks of flats, is known for its troublemakers (see http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=51.95....panoramio.all).
Further more, I would not advice renting in the Molenzicht area. Not a lot of serious criminal activity there but a number of "small incidents" that make living there sub-optimal.

Our friend has sent a giant thank you to The lonely traveler.
>>Giant kudos to you, --he has a trailer at Parc Beau Gard. Were it not for your posting on Fodors, and the fellow mentioning that park, we would not have found a place. It didn't come up on any of our searches. So thank you thank you thank you
Thank you - I am so glad that you happened to see my post. They were running out of time and options.
