Frederick, MD
My mom is relocating to Frederick, MD, in a few months. Can anyone tell me the "good" neighborhoods in the Frederick area and any additional resources for locating affordable housing for a single (older) woman? Thank you.

My mother who is 60 is building a townhouse in Worman's Mill. She is down-sizing from a large colonial. Another "good" neighborhood is Villages of Urbana which is just south of Frederick. I'm not sure what you consider reasonable, but townhouses in these neigborhoods are from the low to mid 300's, single family homes are from the low 500's.

Hi,
If you go to http://longandfoster.com/ you can search by criteria such as location and price. They cover MD. It will give you an idea of what's available.

Thank you for the information. My mom has been divorced for MANY years. Therefore, she is looking to rent. With THAT said, does anyone have any recommendations for neighborhoods? My understanding is that there are MANY more homes for sale, etc. than rentals in this area. True? THANKS!!!

There are several places to rent in my neighborhood near Frederick. However, it seems more expensive to rent than buy. Houses similar to mine are renting for almost twice my morgage. I don't know who keeps the rental market going because these don't seem to be corporate rentals.
