We're planning to visit the Périgueux/Dordogne ( Cahors, Rocamadour, etc) by car next april, but we're affraid of the road conditions speciallly because of the rains that may cause problems. We would like to hear more about this matter.

First of all, I think you mean the Perigord, (Perigueux is the main city, Perigord is the area).

Then, I don't know what you mean about the road conditions and the rain causing problems. It does often rain in the spring, but we have an excellent road system here and it doesn't usually cause any problems - not like Ausralia where we spent some of the winter, and it certainly did.

Is there a reason why you think there will be a problem.

Cahors and Rocamadour aren't in the Périgord/Dordogne.

Yes, there are floods in spring - OCCASIONALLY - in the Dordogne, but it's far from a certain thing and definitely not something to plan around in advance. Did you notice that that thread you pulled up was from 2001?

If there's more water than is safe to drive on on any particular road, there will be a Déviation sign, and you just follow it to get where you're going.

Also this very old thread mentions foot and mouth disease, which had really minimal impact here. I live in the country, and cant remember EVER coming across any restrictions.

In fact hardly ever remember any flooding problems in the spring. Relax, come and enjoy yourself.
