Passport

I'm travelling to France in a few weeks and on the last number of my date of birth on the lamination is slightly scratched and has come off (only a tiny bit). I'm wondering if this will be okay. The number is still completely visible there is just a small mark

It COULD be considered a "damaged passport". Only the agent checking you IN will be able to assure you of otherwise, and I wouldn't point it out to them, of course!

But if you live near the airport perhaps you can find out now if this would be considered by their international check-in agents a damaged passport.

My husband was denied boarding once , but his problem was worse. But the agent said that even if it had a tiny tear or anything it would have been the same denial ( if they catch it , of course).

If the optical code at the bottom of your identity page is not damaged, that is all that matters, because that is what the machine will read. It contains all relevant information and nobody cares what is actually written on the passport unless the machines are out of order.

Wife's passport had a tear on some of the lettering from an errant baggage claim sticker. Actually two letters were removed. The only issue we had was an agent identified it to her but said that since it scanned she was fine. He warned that if we were traveling to other countries it could be use if no scanner. Her passport is due to be renewed before our next trip l, so we're okay.

well.. good luck. Not what I heard from a Delta agent at gate. As I said, I think it is going to be up to the agent checking you in, especially since it is an international flight they will err on the cautious side since they are FINED if you are denied entry overseas and you get sent back.
