Any thoughts on whether this is worthwhile, especially to avoid lines? And also, where would be the best place to purchase (was thinking possibly at the airport on arrival - according to the website they sell it there)? We are leaving in 3 weeks - thanks!

Whether it's worthwhile depends on how many museums you plan to visit in the given timeframe. I've never bought one at the airport. I always get mine either at FNAC or the first museum I visit or a métro station.

I don't think they sell them at the métro stations anymore. Another thing to consider is what museums you want to visit. I have never had a problem with lines at the Louvre but it seems there are always lines at the Orsay. I don't think we have ever come out ahead on the price aspect (never see enough museums in the period of time) but it is worth it for other reasons.

It is soooo worthwhile. I still have fond memories of skipping the huge line at the Musée de l'Orangeries des Tuileries and walking right in with the pass. As I recalled - it also saved us time at Versailles.

Given the amount of money you have spent to get over there - items like the pass that allow you to avoid wasting time in long lines are worth a lot of money.

personal opinion, it's not worthwhile to me, I only bought one once for the Orsay. Another time I went, I just went first thing in the morning and lines weren't that bad of a wait (and this was in heavy tourist periods). Louvre lines are never that bad IMO now that they have the ticket machines.

If you don't mind the time at the airport, seems a good place to get it to me, then you'll be good to go without worrying. You don't want to have to worry about long lines to buy that pass at some museum with long lines (and this does happen, or they run out). I don't think you can buy them anymore at metro stations, either, that's what the website says, anyway.

DH and I found it well worthwhile when we visited Paris last Feb. We bought ours at the CDG airport when we bought our RER tickets to Paris.

It was great being able to bypass the lines and the lines and yes even in Feb there were lines at many of the museums. It was also great to visit places we wouldn't have without the Pass.

We bought them so we could go in and out -- even for a brief period -- while traveling with DD (age 11.) The bypassing of long lines made it well worth the investment. We bought ours at the airport tourist info desk -- Orly.

A couple of years ago we bought our passes under the Arc de Triomphe. When you take the tunnel to the Arc there is a ticket booth as you start to walk up again.

We found it very worthwhile.

Bought the 4 day pass when in Paris in November. We did a multitude of the attractions it covers. Saved a bunch over individual admissions. It is, however, as others have posted dependent on the number of places you wish to visit. It can be very worthwhile IMO.

I agree that it will be worth it just to save time on the lines, and plan to purchase one. I guess I will see if the flight gets in on time, maybe I will buy it at CDG or if I am wanting to just leave the airport, at one of the other options.

We've used them to skip lines at:
- Louvre (used the entrance under the arches so not much of a line)
- Sainte Chappelle - once, there was a HUGE line waiting to buy tickets (after security). We were thrilled to avoid that line!
- L'Orangerie - looooong line.
- Musee d'Orsay - long line.
- Arc de Triomphe - not a long line, but a line!
