I forgot to list one: Late fall, standing on the Pont Alexander III bridge over the River Seine looking towards the Eiffel Tower. Holding my lover's hand after a long Left Bank stroll. Watching the shadows grow long and the lights begin to come on along the river. Feeling at peace with the world and excited about the future.

I haven't done it myself but keep trying to get there at the right time--on the top of the steps to Sacre Coeur.

I'll always remember climbing to the top of the Arc de Triomphe on a warm summer day and watching the sun go down and the lights come on across the city.

Took a great photo of the crazy rumble of rooftops leading up to Sacre Coeur and the another of a red ball of fire descending behind La defense.

Nive place to appreciate Baron Haussman's grand vision.

We watched the sunset from the steps of Sacre Couer on our first night in Paris. It was absolutely magical. After the sun sets you can watch the lights slowly come on throughout Paris, including the Eiffel Tower. Then we walked to Montmartre for dinner. What an amazing first night!

This might sound cheesy.

When I was in Paris in 3rd week of September, I happenend to be at the Pompidou Center at sunset. The top floor rises above the surrounding buildings. At that time of year, the sun sets right behind the Eiffel Tower when viewed from the direction of Pompidou. I took multiple pictures of the setting sun with rays shining through the Eiffel. That was magical!

On my first trip to Paris, when I was 18, a group of us sat on the steps of the Sacre Couer, watching the sun set over the city, sharing some wine, bread and cheese with a group of French teenagers that had come up from the country to see the city.

On one of my first trips to Paris, watched the sun go down over the City of Light from the steps of Sacre Coeur with my wife at my side. Also had a bottle of red wine, camembert, pate de campagne, and a baguette (the 4 essential food groups). It was 12 years ago and it seems like yesterday.

This might not be as romantic as the other locations mentioned on this thread, but I'm always impressed by the light and shadows hitting the Pyramid courtyard of the Louvre.

I'm going to try framing the Arc de Triomphe in a photo with the sun going down behind it (or just out of the frame)...
I took a beautiful photo as mentioned above from the Pompidou center (going up the outside escalator) across the rooftops with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Looks like a postcard.

The Trocadero doesn't get a view of the sun, just the Eiffel Tower. It does have entertainment and can be romantic watching the tower light up and the fountains.
