Paris church bells

I'm researching hotels in Paris in the 5th and 6th. I found one hotel review regarding church bells ringing and one might want to consider that in choosing a hotel.
Does anyone know if Notre Dame and St. Sulplice ring bells on a regular basis?

I think that is the purpose of bells in churches, they ring. Not every hour, but for special occasions and before services. I think all churches do that. I know Notre Dame does.

I don't know specifically about St Sulpice but most churches ring their bells at times, espec on Sunday.

You can hear church bells on Sunday or at the end of wars, but not much at other times in Paris.

I can't speak to St. Sulpice, but we stayed in an apartment on Rue Chanoinesse, just one block away from Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite last May. We were able to hear the bells, which we were told were not allowed to ring before 08:00 in the morning.

Charming way to wake up.

I stayed at a hotel practically right across from St. Sulpice. I don't even remember bells ringing at night. I don't remember French church bells bothering sleep.

Now, I wish the Swiss churches would stop ringing bells at night...

In August 2011, we stayed at Hotel Clement near St. Sulpice with a lovely view of the bell tower. The bells rang each day and were lovely, certainly not bothersome. A couple of times a day they rang for about 10 minutes or so (around Noon and 5 as best I can recall). Don't remember hearing them at night.

The bells at Norte dame ring every 15 min and on special occasions.... Although 4 of the bells will be silenced soon. They are going to be replaced. See www.themoderntrobadors.com to read more. Have fun!
