Paris - Rue Du Temple

I have rented an apartment in the 3rd at 78 Rue du Temple. I was hoping that someone may have stayed at the apartment or have some information on the neighborhood.

As I remember it, Rue du Temple is in the Marais. If that's true, you're going to be very happy. Great location, not very far from the beautiful Place des Vosges which is home to many bistros, cafes, galleries, and outdoor entertainment when it's not too cold.

We're renting an apt at 12 Rue du Temple. I've seen it and it's a wonderful location.

Rue du Temple is more towards the Beaubourg side of the Marais (it runs down to the Hotel de Ville). No. 78 is very close to the Pompidou Centre and all the restaurants around rue Rambuteau and the Forum des Halles, but it's still not too far to stroll through the Marais to the Place des Vosges. Or to Notre Dame, the Ile St Louis and lots of other places.

You can use www.pagesjaunes.fr to find pictures of the building and its neighbours.

I'll be at the rue veille du temple. Does that place me in the same area as the OP?

Rue du Temple and rue Vielle du Temple run parallel, N/S in the 3rd/4th arrs.

So, generally speaking, "yes".

Rue du Temple has a ton of wholesale jewelry and trinket shops along most of its length. It's fairly nice for two or three blocks at the lower end, in the Marais. The address you give is just north of this area, where the wholesale shops start to appear.

The rue Vieille du Temple runs roughly parallel to the rue du Temple, as previously pointed out. At the south end, it's in the midst of the Marais and quite nice, straddling the dividing line between the center of the city's largest homosexual neighborhood to the west and the orthodox Jewish quarter to the east (how's that for contrast?). It's more boring as it moves north out of the Marais, so it depends on exactly where you are.

Two restaurants we have enjoyed in the Marais, both within walking distance of your apartment:

Lunch: Mariage Freres
Dinner Le Pamphlet (reservations advised)

Slow travel, slowtravel.com, is a good place to look for apartment rental info, as well as info about Paris and its neighborhoods.
