Obtaining tickets for Vergers tour and Parliament tour

We leave for London in about three weeks. We arrive on Saturday, and have early check in to our apartment. It is located a couple of blocks from Parliament Square. We are thinking of doing the Parliament tour the day we arrive. The last tour is at 2:30 I think, and we should be able to make it in time. Is it possible to wait and make the reservation that day? Or do we just show up? I hate to do it in advance on the chance we are too tired, or that the flight is delayed. We also are thinking of doing the Vergers tour of Westminster Abbey later in the week, but haven't yet settled on the specific day. Does a reservation need to be made many days in advance? Or can I wait and do it once we arrive in London? Finally, has anyone attended a service at the Abbey? Since we are staying so close I thought it might be nice to try to go to a service. Thanks for any suggestions.

My daughter and I attended a Sunday morning service at Westminster Abbey. I actually prefer going to church at St. Paul's, but maybe it was just the particular speaker the morning we went. The Verger's tour is wonderful. Best if you get there early on the day you wish to tour.

I haven't done a Parliament tour. The day we tried, it was sold out; but it was the last day of the season.

Thanks. I hadn't thought about a service at St. Paul's.

they recommend making a reservation about a week in advance for the Vergers tour.

Hi Nancy, I toured the Parliament buildings about a year ago. I did not reserve -- simply turned up and purchased my ticket the same day. Here is the website with the information.

I've done the verger tour a couple of times and highly recommend it. I also attended a church service at Westminster Abbey and, for me, it was quite memorable.

"<i>Can reservations for the Vergers tour be made online?</i>"

From the Abbey's website: >><i>All verger-led tours are limited to 25 persons. For further details and to confirm a booking please contact the Abbeys Information Desk on +44 (0)20 7654 4834</i><<
