NOTICE: Disruption on the railway line Mannheim-Basel
Quote from www.bahn.com:
"Due to a disruption to the line between Rastatt and Baden-Baden, no train traffic is possible between 14-26 August (estimated). The disruption affects passengers travelling between Switzerland (Basel border crossing), Freiburg, Offenburg and Frankfurt as well as destinations in western and northern parts of Germany. We anticipate additional travel times of up to 60 minutes. Tickets can be used on other trains or returned free of charge."
This is one of the main ICE lines in this country, the route between Mannheim and Basel. Traffic is interrupted. Long-distance trains go as far as Karlsruhe fron the north, Offenburg or Baden-Baden in the south. The stretch in between is covered by a combination of local trains ad substitute buses. This is as time-consuming as it sounds.
Passengers ought to plan accordingly and better allow more additional time than that one hour they mention. This is of particular importance, for example, for people coming from the south going to Frankfurt Airport. TGV trains to Paris will not go via Karlsruhe and Strasbourg but take the route via Saarbrücken.
Something went wrong in a construction site for the new train tunnel und Rastatt. Major repairs are needed. This may take longer than the scheduled August 26. Check your connections on www.bahn.com and recheck at short notice, should you plan to take this route.

Thank you quokka, for keeping us informed! I appreciate your help & effort with this! I'm quite lucky that my travel is over for the summer (I was in Aachen, Trier, Baden-Baden, and Regensburg in June), but I know many people on these boards will be affected.
Thanks!

Fun times. Just an FYI, if you are trying to get by public transport from Basel to Freiburg or vice versa, you can catch a direct bus from Basel airport to Freiburg train station. Or try the Flix bus.

"The Basel airport bus has nothing to do with my travel alert but... so what."
Lighten up, Francis, I also included the Flix bus which serves Frankfurt from Basel. That IS related to your travel alert. Time to untwist those knickers.
