Need Paris hotel recommendation

We will be spending two nights in Paris in November on our way to the Indian Ocean. We are looking for a nice hotel under $150 Euro per night. Location is most important to us (since we don't plan on spending much time in the hotel). We'd prefer if the hotel was in a location cool to hang out in (easy access to cafes, bookstores and shops, but not super touristy). We also want to be close to the metro line so we can access museums and other sites. Thanks! Any advice would be helpful.

You could check out the Grand Hotel des Balcons and the Jeanne d'Arc, since you'll be in Paris out of season. In season those are booked far in advance.

A nice hotel in a good area where you can stroll to several attractions is the Hotel La Perle. It should be within or close to your budget, depending on what kind of room you want and how many you are. Other hotels can be found at ParisHotels.com. Good luck.

we just stayed at the hotel caron de beaumarchais in the marais (4th) area and loved it. it was 152e for a room on the front, they cost less facing in on the courtyard.

very cool area, and i think less touristy than some other areas. also, from the hotel we had very good access to all sorts of subway and bus lines (on the rue de rivoli), plus only a few blocks from the seine. we walked across and back many times.

wow, i want to go to the indian ocean!

We are booked at the Hotel Familia, near Notre Dame Cathedral. I wanted a balcony, so we're paying 113 euros a night, but otherwise it's a bit less. Their website is www.hotel-paris-familia.com. We've never stayed there before but I checked all reviews on it and it seems to do well. Another Paris hotel we're booked into (at the start of our trip) is Hotel Le Regence, which again, I've never stayed at but looks very nice. It runs about 150 euros a night. It's on Rue St. Petersbourg in the 8e. Its website is http://filfranck.com/hotel_le_regence_paris_france.htm

I second Underhill's suggestion of Hotel des grands balcons..nice hotel, excellent buffet breakfast, friendly staff, great area and handy to lots of restaurants and shops. Have a great time.

i was in the Caron de beaumarchais in September. very nice hotel. excellent location.
in the Marais, easy walking to the left bank, Pompidou etc..
right between St. paul and Hotel de ville metro stations.
152euro front, 137 rear. if you decide reserve way in advance.

Hotel du Danube on rue Jacob in the 6th could also meet your criteria. You are between the St Germain area [cafes, churches & shopping] and the Seine.

I can recommend Hotel de l'Ecole Centrale in Le Marais. 125€ for a very charming 3* hotel. 10 steps from metro Arts y Metiers (2 lines) and very friendly service. Le Marais is the area you seem to be looking for.
