Need help choosing a 3rd City for vacation! (Amsterdam + Berlin + ???)
Hello! I would appreciate some advice for a Eurotrip vacation my partner and I are planning for Summer 2014. We will be travelling from England and plan on doing 14 days.
The two cities that we are definitely set on visiting are Amsterdam and Berlin, we will be starting in Amsterdam for 4 or 5 days and then moving to Berlin for 5 days. But this leaves open a 3rd city slot we would like to fill in.
I'm having a very hard time deciding which 3rd city to go to because there is just so much choice of amazing destinations... But it's basically been narrowed down to either Barcelona, Rome, or Prague.
We're both men in our early 20s and our budget won't be too high - what we look for in a city is somewhere with a nice non-pretentious, relaxed environment with lots of interesting streets and boutiques to explore, some decent nightlife where you can get a good beer and the occasional museum/tourist attraction that won't break the bank. Any other city recommendations or daytrips would be welcomed to.
Also is 4 days enough for Amsterdam or would you give it 5? Berlin is the part of the trip I am most looking forward to (studying German and have lots of interest in German culture) so I definitely want to do at least 5 there.
Thanks very much for reading.

How about Munich? Quite a contrast to Berlin, but only an inland flight (or about 6 hours by train). And you'll get a chance to practise your German more! Munich is buzzy, particularly if you go during the University term time, with plenty of clubs, good beer, and great beer gardens where you can take your own food with you (pick up from local bakeries/supermarkets if you want to save a bit of money, though beer garden food is usually good and isn't that pricey). The city itself is on a plain to the north of the Alps - quite flat and pretty compact, so easy to get around. A day trip by train to the Alps - over the border to Salzburg in Austria, or stay in Germany and travel to the mountains that side of the border. Prague would make an interesting juxtaposition to Berlin as well but Barcelona and Rome I'd save for another trip.

I would take the train to Dresden and stay 1 or. 2 nights and then take a train from there to Prague.
We are thinking of doing a similar trip (sans Amsterdam) next year. Prague would be a repeat for
Us. I would try to avoid Prague on the weekends because of crowds.
HAve a great trip!

I would recommend Prague. It is a lovely town. Strolling on the Charles Bridge after dark, with the city lights reflecting down into the water is a memory that will last forever. There are so many little interesting streets and squares to explore. I definitely think you would love it. 4 days should be about perfect.
