What do you mean by a long stay? A week, a month, 3 months, six months, longer?
Anyway, here's a link for some furnished rentals. Most rent by the week, but for a longer stay, you can usually negotiate a lower rate.

Thanks BTilke and MyriamC.

By Long Stay I meant 6 weeks. I will be working on Zedelgen and found out that It might be better to stay in Brugge instead since the two cities are only 8 Km from each other. Also, as my wife will be accompanying me on the trip I thought It would be better to stay in an accomodation with kitchen and a little more space in comparison with a standard hotel room.

I know that 6 weeks sounds a lot for Brugge so we are planning to do day / weekend trips to Anthuerp,Paris,Amsterdan and Brussels. Any other suggestion to spend the weekends? Also does anyone knows the BAUHAUS FLAT in Brugge? On the web ( http://www.bauhaus.be/flatrent.html) they look very new and well furnished...

Thanks and Regards,

Bauhaus is ok. The situation is ok, in the historic city within easy reach of about anything in the city center.
How will you go to Zedelgem?
By bus?
This means you'll probably have to take the bus to the station and then take the bus to Zedelgem.
By bicycle?
Allthough the bauhaus is in the opposite direction of Zedelgem seen from the city center, it is only a matter of 2 or 3 minutes.
Biking to Zedelgem is very easy, it is flat with some nice views of flemish countryside, on protected bicycle paths, and it should take about 30 minutes to get there. (I lived halfway when I was young).

Zedelgem is a village, and leaving your wife all day long in Zedelgem without anything to do has to be considered as sheer cruelty!
Brugge is a wonderful city and an excellent port of call for the trips you mention and also the belgian coast is very nearby.

Baldrick > Thanks a lot for your reply!

I will have a car rented to transfer from Brugge to Zedelgem in a daily basis. Which I assume won't be a problem since It is only about 8 Km. I usually have to drive 25 Km in my hometown to go to work...

So Zedelgem is really just a village. I definatelly will prefer to stay at Brugge!!! For my wife's and my onwn sanity!!!

It will be quite a different experience! My hometown has about 18 MM people... Brugge is about 100K...

So, when you say that Bauhaus is OK, can I at least assume that what is on the their web page is what you get?

Housing is a very important issue to us when traveling since we both suffer from breath allergy...

I am looking forward for your answer,

fmaga,
sorry for the late response, but i was away for the WE.
yes, the pictures are what you get.
i don't know what your breath allergy means in terms of apartment furnishing (carpets, tissus,...) but I suggest you ask them for confirmation on the points you esteem necessary.
but... if you have breath allergy and if sea air is good for you, have you considered staying at the seaside? I don't know when you go to Zedelgem, but if it is not july or august, you could easily find a seasight apartment. Knokke-Duinbergen-Heist are at about 30 km of expressway from Zedelgem.

Staying at the coast may indeed be a nice option, especially since in Knokke there's plenty of shops and all as well.
As for other trips: Ghent (wonderful medieval city, not as crowded with tourists as Brugge), Ieper (the center of the WWI fights) and Lille (European Cultural Capital this year)!

I would not recommend Bauhaus. We passed by Bauhaus on a *long* walk and were not impressed with either the common facilities or the location (that was the bigger issue).

I've rented 2 flats in Brugge for 1 week each, but you would certainly be able to stay as long as you want provided they have availability. Both are right around the corner from each other and within very easy walking distance to most things (about 2 mins to the Markt and lots of shopping and restaurants). They are:

I wish I had 6 weeks in Brugge!! - Don't think you have to take day and weekend trips all the time!!

Brugge is WONDERFUL! Plenty to do...even if it is just relaxing on a bench watching the swans frolic in the water.
