Lodging in Lagos, Lisbon

Can anyone recommend places to stay in Lagos or Lisbon for under $150/night? Its a little overwhelming without advice.

I think I might book a place called Romantik Vivenda Miranda in Lagos for 2 nights, but we will be going to Lisbon for 4 days after that. It will be for 2 of us, it is our honeymoon. Mundial was highly suggested, but it is fully booked. That area seems desireable, but the prices are pretty high. I looked into the Lisboa Regency ($260/night) and Heritage Av Liberdade ($250/night) and more of the same. Is that just the market rate there? I see that other places (Marriott, Pestana) are much lower, but I've never been to Lisbon and it seems that location is very important. Whaddya think, worth it?

Four of us (two couples)stayed at the Romantik Vivenda earlier this spring and we felt it was an outstanding property in every respect having stayed at quite a few of the Romantik properties all over Europe. I would request one of the rooms in the main lodge fronting on the ocean. The end unit to the west on ground level is the most requested and arguably the premier room to have. My wife and I were fortunate enough to get this room; I can't recall the room number. The restaurant at the Romantik Vivenda is truly gourmet albeit a bit pricey. We only ate there once and went into Lagos several other times. The place is a little difficult to find but well worth the effort. The area is mostly residential except for the waterfront properties. Althout it is situated on a cliff about 100 meters high there is an easy footpath down to the beautiful somewhat secluded wide sand beach.http://www.vivendamiranda.com/index-en.htm

I travel 'on the cheap:' never been to Lagos but have visited Lisbon several times. Once I stayed at Residencial 5 d'Outubre - had to walk over to Avda da Republica for MetroLisboa. Other times I have stayed at Residencial Estrela do Saldanha, Avda Republica, 17. Carlos Ferreira, co-owner / manager speaks passable English. Look them up: keyword Estrela do Saldanha, for reservations & rates.

Metro Lisboa is at the door.

I hope Vivenda Miranda works for you. My DH stayed there for 5 nights earlier this year and was severely disappointed, not least because he had an ant issue and there was nothing done about it.

Anyway, consider Priceline for Lisbon and bid on a 5 star. We have gotten some outstanding deals that way and the Lisbon metro is excellent.
