Location of this apartment in Madrid

My sister and I are planning a 10 day trip to Spain the end of October, beginning of November. This is our first trip to Spain, having previously traveled throughout France and Italy. We plan to spend several days in Madrid, then head to Granada via train. In looking at apartments, this one seems pleasant from the photos. Location, however, is throwing me off not having been to Madrid. Your thoughts?

Many thanks, in advance, for assistance.

This is the equivalent of being smack in between the Vatican and Piazza Navona or the Louvre and Notre Dame. You would be less than 5 minutes for the Plaza Major and the Royal Palace. The area is studded with bars and restaurants as is the area north and east. The major museums are about 1.5 km ( 1 mile) or so to the east, an easy walk or easy transit trip and the Gran Via is less than 1 km north.

The location is okay in terms of being central near Plaza Mayor, the Mercado St Miguel, plenty of places to eat and shop nearby, it's a safe area as far as I know. However, it isn't very near a metro stop at all, which I insist on. Depends how much that matters to you. It looks pretty far from either the Opera or Latina metro stops. It's near the Iglesia Santa Maria, it appears.

It is a very good location.
The Opera stop is not further than 10 min. Max.

The metro stops are more like 15 mins!
The apt is close to the Palace, not close to any supermarket.
There are bars and restaurants all over Madrid!
A bus stops on Calle Segovia and Calle Bailen.
For the price of the apt I think you should get closer to Calle Mayor.

Since walking times (or estimates of walking times, appear to vary considerably from person to person, let's go with actual distances and the OP can decide;

Opera Metro - 550M
Tirso de Molino Metro - 600M
La Latina Metro - 600M
Puerta Del Sol Metro - 700M

Looks to be about 3 supermarkets within 400M

The apartment is about 130M from Calle Mayor, 400M to Plaza Mayor

10 minute max isn't a short distance to me as that is about a mile for me if I walk somewhat briskly. I don't want to walk a mile to a metro stop all the time when on vacation. 600 meters is about what I guessed, I don't want a metro stop that far when I'm on vacation, I want one within 1-3 blocks (which is within 300 meters).

Uh, no. That's 6 mph and the only people who walk that fast as "somewhat briskly" are the Olympians who do the walk races.

It's getting a little silly/confusing to be responding to 2 messages by the same poster!

I am so very grateful for the help all the posters have provided. I can only apologize for my silliness and cause for confusion. The info has helped my apartment selection tremendously, particularly regarding location.

Once we start working on itinerary, I'm sure I'll have more questions!
