Location of Sorrento webcam
Can anyone tell me how to get to the Sorrento webcam spot (Via San Cesareo & Via Tasso) from the train station? We'll be walking around there next week anyway and it'd be fun to wave a Fodor's sign if we can find it.

Very easy to find. From the train station, walk down one of the two streets leading away from the station. Both streets are downhill. The first big street you come to is Corso Italia. Turn left and walk down that street a few blocks to Piazza Tasso. Cross over to the other side. Corso Italia continues on, but to the right of that street is via San Cesareo, a smaller pedestrian only street. You can't miss it, it's lined with shops pouring out into the walkway. Walk about three blocks to Via Tasso. The webcam is on Via Tasso, to your right, above Sorrento Info. It does NOT look like a camera. It's mounted on the balcony above the entrance to the information place. As you reach that intersection as you walk down San Cesareo, on your left you will see the famous Tabacchi shop.
Go to sorrentoinfo.com for the webcam and also for a map.

One more thing -- go INTO the information place once you're there; they have reasonably priced internet access. Get online, go to Fodors.com, and give us a heads-up that you are there and give us about 30 minutes lead time to see you, keeping in mind the time difference! That will give you time to shop in the area, which you'll want to do anyway, and give us the time to hook up to the webcam to see you!

Not that you asked for it...
Seeing the word Sorrento made me think of Traitoria Amelia. Walk to the far west end of town and down to the waterfront, the townfolk live here and can be seen repairing nets etc. while you sit on the barge and eat a wonderful (and cheap) dinner. Amelia is the daughter and can be seen playing nearby. Have a wonderful trip! I am green with envy.

I tried Surfergirl, I tried! We got to Sorrento (via hydrofoil from Capri) at lunch time and grabbed a bite right on the waterfront. Then it was the bus to the RR station (Circumvesuviana). There was no time afterall to walk about and find the webcam site...and I didn't press our party to do it since, as you pointed out, it was 3am in LA. I do appreciate your directions though and have saved the printout for next year's trip. Again, many thanks!
