Knockendarroch Hotel, Pitlochry, Scotland

We just returned from Scotland, where we spent part of the time in Pitlochry. We stayed at a small hotel called Knockendarroch and just loved the experience. The hotel is more like a bed & breakfast; it is off the beaten path, but still close enough to walk to town. There is no reception desk, but the proprietors are always available when needed. The food is outstanding and the rooms large and comfortable. They have a bed & breakfast option as well as a bed, breakfast & dinner option. We had only one small complaint and that involved one of the waiters who was always sarcastic and surly. He was a teenager, though, so we wrote it off on the grounds that surly teenagers seem to be a universal phenomenon.

My wife and I stayed there 3 years ago and share your sentiments on the charm. We luckily had no teen waiters! I purchased a kilt which I wear regularly with pride while there and found the entire visit to be terrific.

We are leaving Monday for Scotland - how can I contact the Knockendarroch Bed and Breakfast - sounds like a nice place to spend a night or two. Thanks.

The web address is http://www.knockendarroch.co.uk/ <BR>You can also search through Yahoo, and it will take you right there. We made initial contact on-line and ended up faxing our deposit information. Enjoy your trip.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the discussion. We also stayed at Knockendarroch for one nite and although the inn is just beautiful, we also found one of the young waiters to be surly. This was our first experience in a hotel that served dinner and we hadn't quite learned the protocol. We were having a drink in the lounge when he came for our dinner order. I was thinking of ordering the halibut and (stupidly) asked him how it was. He looked at me like I was out of my mind and snorted "How should I know?" or something like that. I felt like a complete idiot. In general during the meal he was curt and again at breakfast, responded rudely to a question. In general, he just made me feel self concious and uncomfortable. I didn't say anything to the owners and we had marvelous experiences at several other hotels (Sheildaig Lodge, Viewfield House, the Grange, and others). I probably should have spoken up. Oh well!
