Killarney 24 hrs.. Ring of Kerry possible?

We will be in Killarney for one full day, the next day we will be going to the dingle peninsula. My question is that with only 24 hours in Killarney can we squeeze in a bit of the ring of Kerry. Keep in mind we would like to visit Killarney national park and the town of Killarney itself. Is there a shorter version of the ring of Kerry. With a possibility of 2 hrs drive time from Killarney and back. So basically one hour each way. Thanks

You could drive to Kenmare, see the Stone Circle, enjoy the beautiful drive between Killarney & Kenmare.

Instead of driving the Ring of Kerry (which I didn't find as scenic as the literature led me to believe it would be), I would spend my day in Killarney NP (tour Muckross House, hike around Muckross Lake, etc.) and driving to Kenmare with stops at Torc Waterfall and the Ladies' View. The Stone Circle is well worth a visit in Kenmare (as Abram suggests). We were the only ones there when we visited!

We now have 2 full days in Killarney. Althought first day we are arriving in the moring from a transatlantic flight, hoping to just see Killarney that day. The next day should we just do the park and skip the ring of Kerry drive. Is it worth doing both rock and dingle. We definetly are doing dingle. Thanks

landing where?

Shannon airport to Killarney is nearly a 3 hour drive - jet lagged. The drive from DUB can take close to 5 hours - again jet lagged.

thanks longhorn and we have decided to take your advice. first day after a long flight we will be driving from Shannon airport, arriving 7 am! and just settle into seeing a bit of killarney that day. found a good trad session for a sunday afternoon! the following day we will spend touring the parc and head towards kenmare and visit the sights you recommended. we will save our drive for the dingle peninsula and skip the rok.
