Italy itinerary - activity suggestions
Hi all,
We are soon embarking on our Italy trip. Thanks to you all so far that have contributed so much to help define the locations we are travelling to. However, with all of our accommodation and travel booked, we have embarked on booking some activities.
I would appreciate any advice people have on activities in the various locations we are staying. While the locations and dates themselves are locked in, as is all of the travel between, we have not locked in a lot of what we are going to do in each location. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Hopefully the formatting is retained here. As you can see, we sort of have a full 26 days on the ground, with some of those days being half days travelling (or slightly longer in the case of Ischia --> Rome).

June 15 - are you using the rental car? I would strongly recommend you don't. Are you aware of ZTL's aka Limited Traffic Zones? You don't have them in Australia so you may be unaware how they work. Basically, you get a massive fine if you stray inside one of the zones and they ring the Naples historic centre and other areas. If you insist on the car you could drive to Herculaneum, leave your car there and take the train to Naples.
You won't need the car from Salerno to Pompeii as Pompeii is on the Trenitalia main train line - you just enter Pompeii at the amphitheatre entrance after a short walk.
In fact, the car may be a liability except for your trip to Paestum.
In terms of activities - the Amalfi Coast is good for hiking, swimming and food. Venice I would definitely recommend a visit to Burano and the Rialto markets. Rome has enough activities to last years but check a Rome specific guide book and see what interests you there.

Thanks for that info! Definitely won't drive in Naples and don't really mind if we don't even use it much... wasn't that expensive and gives a little flexibility.
Thanks for your Venice suggestions!
