Italy itinerary - help please
I am torturing myself over what to do, so many places I'd like to see!
We are flying into Rome arriving Oct 26, staying three nights in Rome, three in Florence, two in Venice, and then have two remaining nights before catching a morning flight out of Milan. I was planning to visit Lake Maggiore those nights and get to the Milan airport from there, but am concerned weather/closings in first week of November make this a bad idea. Maybe I should stay one more night in Venice and then the last in Milan? maybe I should go to Lake Garda. Any thougts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.

gordo, I would opt for staying one more night in Venice. Take the extra day so you can slow down and enjoy the city and not have to hustle through the highlights. We stayed last year for three nights and just booked for a week in September. Three nights wasn't enough for us. Venice is a place you need to "feel". Hope this helps.

I just got back from Italy, it sounds like you will be moving around maybe too much...there is so much in each city. Maybe expand one or more stays and skip trying to plan the 2 remaining nights. You could stay in Italy for months and not see it all. Hope you have a great trip.

I agree with everybody else about the necessity of cutting down the number of your destinations. In your origional plan you're traveling from Rome to Florence, from Florence to Venice, from Venice to Lake Maggiore, and from there to Milan. You're going to spend from a quarter to a third of your time in Italy traveling, checking in and out of hotels, and packing. I think you'll enjoy your trip a lot more if you limit it to two or three cities.
