Italian Road Trip: Rest Stops
My family and I will be driving around Italy for a week next month and I'm looking for some rest stops between long-ish trips. First, we will be driving from Assisi to Venice and I'm looking for a town with amazing food. I've looked at Ferrara and Ravenna, wondering which one is better historically and food wise?
Secondly, we will be traveling from Venice to Florence. I was interested in something like Lago di Garda or the Italian Riviera.
We'll be stopping in Rome, Naples, Amalfi Coast, Avellino, Assisi, Venice and Florence so I'd like to see something characteristically different from the other cities.
Lastly, my mother is in a scooter so we cannot do any hiking or places with too many steps and such.
Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated!!!

Your mother will also have a difficult (but not impossible) time in Venice using a scooter. (Look at a map of Venice on maps.google.com; all those blue lines are canals/water.) You need to investigate how you're going to get around without having to go up and over lots of bridges. Can your mother walk short distances? Where are you staying?
If you only have a week, I would visit only two destinations. Fly into one and out of the other.

You have listed 7 destinations and said you will be driving for a week. I assume you have a couple of other weeks for covering the other cities.
If all you have is 7 days total you should confine yourself to two destinations at most - especially if you have someone with a scooter. And use of a scooter will be very difficult in Venice and the Amalfi Coast - so I wouldn't make those either of yuor choices.

We would only be driving along the Amalfi Coast. I'm aware Venice is difficult but there are sites dedicated to helping disabled get around the city. If I had a month, what stopovers would you suggest?

I'm confused. You say that you will only be driving on the Amalfi Coast, but aren't you asking about stops between Assisi and Venice, and then between Venice and Florence?
I can't say I found Ravenna very interesting for food, and I've never been to Ferrara.
Between Venice and Florence, the Italian Riviera is quite out of your way. Although I really like it there and a town like Santa Margherita Ligure would be OK for your mother in a scooter.
On the AC, I think Amalfi would be the best town for a person in a scooter.
But I'm still confused about how long you will be driving.
