Is the Amalfi Coast kid friendly enough
We are planning to go to either Tuscany or Amalfi and my brother is concerned, he has two kids, 5 and 2.
It seems like parking is limited, the hills are very steep, and things might be a bit of a hassle.
Has anyone taken their kids?

Parking is limited, the hills are very steep, many side lanes are in fact stairways, many houses are only accessible on long stairs, the main roads have no sidewalks, and sandy beaches do not (or hardly) exist. Certainly not a destination for a family holiday with small kids. Just south of Salerno, however, there is a series of seaside resorts with finest sandy beaches which are less overrun than those in Tuscany or on the Adria. From there you could visit the Amalfi coast as a day trip.

OK, that sounds like a pretty definitive "No" on whether Amalfi is doable with kids.
We are not too worried about sandy beaches, just want to have enough activities that kids could be a part of, and not have anything like safety put in jeopardy.

I'm a big fan of the Amalfi Coast but I don't think it's a great place to take young kids. Along with all the other reasons stated above, the twisty roads between towns/cities, can cause severe motion sickness.
You will find the terrain in Tuscany much more kid-friendly.

There are beautiful beaches in Tuscany near Baratti and Populonia. Also if you go to the islands of Elba or Giglio. You can find nice beaches in Forte dei Marmi. They are very nice for children because you have the umbrella and not too much sun.
The part of Tuscany where all the tourists go, where there is wine and castles -- that is nice for children except they must also walk the stairs. Maybe if you go to San Quirico d'Orcia or Pienza it is better because they are not hills. They are level.
