Is my itinerary the Best of Switzerland?

Jump to last reply

We are planning a 14 day trip to Switzerland in mid-June. We are thinking of skipping a few touristy areas that include Zermatt, Lugano and St.Moritz and concentrate on other areas with 3 home-bases:
Luzern, Interlaken and Lausanne.
Here is what we think:
Day 1: Arrive to Zurich Airport. Take a train to Luzern. Explore Luzern. 5 nights in Luzern.
Day 2: Luzern;
Day 3: Cruise Lake Luzern and Mt. Pilatus or Mt. Rigi area.
Day 4: A day trip to Murten and Bern.
Day 5: Day trip to Zurich.
Day 6: Take golden Pass to from Luzern to Interlaken. Interlaken, 3 nights in Interlaken.
Day 7 and Day 8: Berner Oberland: Grimmelwald, Murren area and Mannlichen-Kleine Scheidegg area with walks/hikes.
Day 9: Take a Golden Pass from Interlaken to Montreaux. Explore Montreaux and take a boat ride to Chateau de Chillon. Take a train to Lausanne. 5 nights in Lausanne.
Day 10: Lausanne.
Day 11: A day trip to Gruyeres.
Day 12: A day trip across the lake to Evian-les-Bains (France).
Day 13: A day trip to Geneva.
Day 14: from Lausanne to Geneva airport to catch a morning flight.
Any suggestions?
Would you recommend to explore Zurich on day 1 and take another day trip on day 5, for example to Vaduz, Lichtenstein?
Is it worth to go to Evian-les-Bains and spend a day there?
Would you recommend to buy Swiss Pass based on this itinerary?
Thanks. Lev.
