Ireland itinerary for Galway and Donegal
My daughter will be studying in Galway this summer. When her session is up we would like to tour around for about 10 days. We will be flying into Shannon. We are more into the scenery, small towns and Irish culture. We also have family that we would like to visit in Donegal. We don't need to include Dublin this time around. Since Galway is in the middle, how do we make the most of the southern coast and still have time to get to Donegal? Suggestions for driving itinerary much appreciated.

With 10 days there is more than enough to fill your time on the higher part of the wild Atlantic Way possibly venturing further into the North.
Some time ago I did a similar plan from Shannon to Portrush and back to Shannon.
Basic route:
SNN to Galway 1 or 2 nights
Galway to Westport (or Ballina) 1 or 2 nights
Westport to Donegal (or Letterkenny) 2 night
Donegal to Portrush 2 nights
Athlone area 1 night
Ennis night before Shannon departure
