Iceland Trip - looking for Erik the Red
I'm heading to Iceland for 10 days in August and one of my travel companions is set on seeing Erik the Red's house north of Rekjavik. However, the website doesn't have directions to where it's located or a lot of info about what there is to do there. Has anyone else been there or have any info on it?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Unfortunately, this is the info for the Erik the Red Guesthouse in Reykjavik. I'm looking for information on the actual home of Erik the Red. The only info I've been able to find is at www.leif.is, but they don't have directions on how to get there in english. If anyone knows anything, I'd appreciate it!

Sadly, Fodor's isn't very strong when it comes to Iceland info. Getting better but a lot of people on this Board haven't been there yet or don't post on that area often or in depth. I hope to help remedy that with a trip report after our visit in August. Please do the same.
My advice would be to post your question on Tripadvisor's board. It is more active (not saying a lot) than this one when it comes to Iceland. Also, perhaps easier, send an email to your hotel or guest house with the link and ask them to help you out. I know the proprieter of the guest house where we are staying in Reykjavik has been terrific and helpful as have the folks at the different outfitters we are using along the way.
Good luck and don't forget to post a trip report.

Thanks Taitai,
I actually found some info about it in one of the info books that the Iceland tourist board put out, so I think we're all set. And I will definitely post a trip report upon our return. Finding info on Iceland has certainly been challenging!

Hey Jed!
Yes, I did read the article you sent...thank you for passing it along! Most of the sights highlighted we're planning to see, but they had a few more suggestions that we might try to do. And the info on Erik the Red's house was useful too.
Thanks again!
