How does one get to CDG when you need to be there at 4:50? Taxi only?

I'm looking at booking a flight in the next few minutes (FF miles) that leaves CDG at 7:50am. Is taxi my only option to get to the airport by 5am?

Actually there are also Noctilien bus lines N140 and N143.

Assuming you are taking a flight within Europe, you absolutely would not need to be at the airport before about 6:15,andyou will discover that even that is too early. The vast majority of the airport employees don't even get to work until 5:30 -- and those that live in Paris take the RER that leaves Gare du Nord at 4:56.

These buses leave Gare de l'Est then to Gare du Nord.

If you have a transatlantic flight, be there at 5. You could take a nightbus as long as your hotel is within easy access to one of the Noctilienne routes. However, I would only seriously consider a taxi. Call the night before for pickup:

Kerouac is right. If this is an intra-Europe flight, you're likely to find that check-in isn't open at 5am. Arriving 1.5 hours prior is plenty of time.

And another saying the counter won't be open until that early. Take a taxi. Have your hotel arrange it.

There are absolutely no transatlantic flights at 7:50 a.m. Only short flights leave that early (except for ultra low cost charter flights that have to accept the worst time slots).

Yes, that flight dates from the Concorde years, because it was the only flight that arrived at JFK without being hours later than the Concorde (which departed in the afternoon from CDG). In any case, it does not leave at 7:50 am.

Someone could easily be going home to the US, but have a connection that is in Europe first, though. For example, SAS would connect through Copenhagen going to EWR and Lufthansa would connect through Munich or Frankfurt, Swiss through Zurich, KLM through Amsterdam, etc.

Check-in time at CDG would not matter whether they had an onward connection at another airport.

SuperShuttle would be cheaper

Supershuttle charges 99€ for what a taxi would charge under 60€.

A shared ride shuttle will cost less than a private shuttle but the Noctilien bus will cost significantly less than than any shuttle option. The bus will probably take no longer to reach the airport than would a shared ride shuttle.

I would in NO way trust a shuttle at that hour. Just take a taxi.

From their website that I linked the charge is $39 USD. Not 99€.

I think he would say hitchhike to the airport the night before and sleep there!

It's a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt, connecting to SFO.

I ended up finding a flight that left at 11:35, which just seems better on so many levels, and it still gets home in the late afternoon. I wasn't relishing the idea at all of having to get up at 4-something to get ready.
