Hotel Suggestions Desired

If anyone has hotel suggestions for Dresden (1 night), Heidelberg (2 nights), and Konstanz (4 nights), your input would be appreciated. Looking for something in the 80-150 USD price range. Will be using trains and public transportation, so good location, if possible, is desired. A castle stay for a night somewhere sounds interesting, and we would obviously be willing to pay more for something like that.

Also looking for things to do in the Dresden and Heidelberg area; with such a short stay, we are interested in what you consider to be important to see or do.

Last, any good restaurant advice in these towns?

I just had an email from a close friend regarding hotels in Dresden - he suggested we stay at Eckberg Castle. He said it was "a bargain at 85 Euros/night (including a great
breakfast) for a single room. The place is spectacular, but it is not in
the city center: http://www.schloss-eckberg.de/english/home.htm." My friend booked all our hotels for a visit to Germany last year and I was very happy with everything. We stayed at the Landhaus am Weinberg in Meersburg last July. I can't give you any info for Heidelberg hotels as we only visited on during a day trip. Definitely do Heidelberg Castle. We also visited the student jail at Heidelberg Castle which was interesting - but probably because we had our german friend acting as a personal tour guide.

Have a great trip. I'm going in November and am counting the days.

Shubbs - I can only give you some assistance with Heidelberg. When are you going to be there - rates vary greatly by season as do the best things to see there.

Recalling that you are (still somewhat) new here - - I'd rather offer you help with your <b>next</b> post. This is not <i>my</i> &quot;rule&quot; or finger-wagging - - it's what Fodors itself asks you to do - - quoting from item 6 on their &quot;HELP&quot; webpage...

http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm#Q6

==========

&quot;Finally, create a title - make sure it is concise and clearly describes your message (<b>and destination, if applicable</b...&quot;

==========

(my own added emphasis)

Thus, when you re-post this question, and you really <b>should</b> - - mention <b>Dresden, Heidelberg and Konstanz</b>... please? for the benefit of all on this board...

Best wishes,

Rex

Hello there,
Iīm in Heidelberg on a somewhat regular basis. Normally Iīd suggest staying right in the old part of town:
- hotelamkornmarkt.de (95-125 E/night incl. breakfast) or heidelberger-kulturbrauerei.de (closer to your price-limit)
But: Since my last stay at this hotel, because itīs easy to get from there to the sightseeing highlights and because itīs only half a kilometer from the station Iīd advise on the NH Hotel.
(nh-hotels.com) The rates for your dates are 128Euro/night without breakfast.
FYI: I also reviewed it on tripadvisor.

Whatever you do: Enjoy this trip!
By the way, have you come across heidelbergīs tourist information yet? cvb-heidelberg.de
