Hotel or B&B in Orvieto
I will be flying in and out of Rome in May. I'm spending 3 nights at the Hotel Auroa in Spoleto. I've never been to Orvieto and am considering spend 2 nights. I will not have a car. I'm looking for a Hotel or B&B that is easy to get to from the train station. Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Hotel Viriglio which is located on the main square across from the Duomo.
It was very nice and had a very good breakfast.
It was lovely to sit ourside in the evening in front of the hotel and people watch.
We drove up to park but it is very easy to get up to the upper town by finicular and shuttle, I believe.

We enjoyed the Hotel Piccolomini. It's on the upper town bus route, but we took a cab from the train station. Very friendly staff and a great breakfast in rooms below the hotel that were carved out of the tufa. Be sure to do the Orvieto underground tour (starts at the T.I. office in the Piazza del Duomo.

Be sure and stay in the older part of the upper town that is pedestrian.
I don't think three nights will be too much although others might. You could do a day trip. You could catch a bus to Civita di Bagnoregio. Make sure you buy your return ticket and know where and when to catch the bus back. When you get to Bagnoregio you can either take a local bus the rest of the way (you will need a different ticket) or a long walk.

You could also take the train to nearby Chiusi or get an early start and from Chiusi station catch the bus on to Montepulciano. You just need to make sure of bus and train schedules so you aren't stuck somewhere. Most buses won't run on Sunday.
Is 80€ for a single or double? What amenities do you need. B&B Valentina might be around that price.

The convent, Monastero San Lodovico would also be in that price range. They have an 11pm curfew at that time of year I think (later in summer). It's basic with private bath and may or may not include breakfast. No AC. I would expect a single to be about 50€. I stayed there Sept. 2008 for 31€.

We stayed at Hotel Aquila Bianca on our first trip to Italy about 7 or 8 years ago. It was perfectly fine at that time but in the meantime it's been renovated and it looks even better. http://www.hotelaquilabianca.it/en/ At the time the staff couldn't have been kinder, the breakfast was delicious, and I liked the fact that the location, although still quite old, it wasn't right in the center of things. You are prompted to explore farther afield in the centro storico.
In checking the price for a room in May it says 85 euro for a single. And we, too, drove to the hotel so can't comment on location from the train station.
We managed to see the highlights in our 2 night stay but I the evening passagiata was so pleasant and I would have loved to have added another day to our visit. If we return to Italy someday, I hope to revisit that lovely town.

Last May we stayed at the B&B Sant'Angelo 42 located just behind the duomo and an easy ten minute stroll from the top of the funicular. Prices for a double room, single use are €70-€80'per night, including breakfast. Our host Guilia was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with her.

We really enjoyed our stay at Aretusa Vacanze (www.aretusavacanze.com)last spring, located on a backstreet near the Duomo. Looks like they have doubles for single use for 66 euros.
The B&B is operated by a kind & friendly family -- good breakfasts on the fabulous roof terrace. Ortigia was my favorite place in Sicily -- a wonderful town to wander. You will wish you had more time to spend here.
