Hotel Near Vienna Airport

Can anyone recommend a moderate hotel near the Vienna Airport, within an hour's radius south or west? We are coming from Slovenia and don't want to go into Vienna. We have a car to return at the airport and need to spend one night in the area before our flight.

thank you!

Must it be a hotel? When flying out of Vienna, we stay at a nice pension in Schwechat, which is the town the Vienna airport is in. The pension is in the 60€ range. They have an excellent breakfast, and offer a pool (not that you need it in Sept.). In May we stayed there the night before we flew out, had to return the car before the 7:00AM checkin. Worked out great!

Dear Tomboy,

Sounds great. Do you remember the name or have an e-mail?
When I googled Schwechat pension I came up with Pension Sprinzl. Does this ring a bell?

Thanks for your help!

Yes! That's the one. Unfortunately, they don't have e-mail or a website. Fortunately, the owners and their daughter speak excellent English.
Phone #: 0222/707 42 42
Fax #: 022/707 42 42 5
Address: 2320 Kledering bei Schwechat
Parking is behind the building (with entrance on the right)
P.S. Print an on-line map of how to get there; if you don't have luck in this regard, repost and I'll try to help you. It's hard to find the first time; easy thereafter. The nice thing is it's so handy to the airport, yet quiet, as well as comfortable and "gemutlich"
Say hello to Frau Sprinzl from us!

A NH Hotel is just across the street from the Departure Hall at the airport.

www.nh-hotels.com

No need to keep car another day as you can return it ( saving added rental fee) as you check-in to the hotel and avoid trying to find your way in an area that can be quite congested at peak times. This permits you to have a easy check-in for your flight and access to the center of the city with public tranport if you want.
Numerous restaurant choices also in hotel.
No trouble to find the airport- apparently the pension recommended is not so easy.
Yes, the hotel is more costly than a pension. but when you add in car rental saving and convenience, it is worth it.
I think this question has be answered on this forum but did not find the thread.

Cab is available at any hour from Pension Sprinzl to airport--perhaps a four mile ride. We considered taking it, but wanted to use the car up to the last minute the night before (side trip to Bratislave...another story).

Etal: If you go to viamichelin.com and enter "Klederinger Strasse 86" in the address block, and "Kledering bei Schwechat" in the city block, Austria in country, you'll get an excellent map to the pension. It's 2 story, modern construction. And one doesn't hear airplanes there. We found it very comfortable at the end of a long journey, and I timed it at 14 minutes to the door of the terminal. I heartily recommend it to meet your needs.
