Hotel near the Munich airport?

I would appreciate recommendations for a hotel to stay at near the Munich airport on my last night in Germany. I'm looking for something between "middle of the road" and nice. I don't want bargain basement place on my last night in Germany. Thanks for all the help you've given me in planning my trip!!

We stayed at the Kempinski (sp?) last year located AT the airport. I found a great rate of 115 E on their website. And that was during Octoberfest. There's nothing charming about the hotel, just a large corporate hotel. But we were on our way home and ready for something "normal".

Good luck,
Marla

There is a hotel on Priceline (Marriott?) that gets very good reviews on Tripadvisor. I didn't stay there.

For our last night in Germany before our return trip from Munich next month, we were given two recommendations: Parkhotel Erding, and Hotel Kastanienhof, both located on Am Bahnhof, in Erding. We chose the Kastanienhof. Obviously we haven't stayed there yet, but both have been given good reviews and are very close to airport (they better be, our flight leaves at 6 am!).

I second the recommendation for the Kempinski -we stayed there 3 nights in December. It is a very nice, modern hotel, located right at the Lufthansa and Lufthansa affiliate terminal. The bonus to that arrangement is that you can go and check your luggage in at the airport, and then go back to the hotel and get ready, have breakfast and check out.

It is also convenient to the train station and tons of stores at the airport (the grocery store sells wonderful pastries!). There is a popular beer garden there as well.

The hotel isn't traditional or quaint, but clean, modern, efficient and nice. We also got a great rate as well. It is a very highly rated hotel.
