Hotel in Zurich

I will be in Zurich for just two days during the last week of March. We will be flying out of Zurich on March 27th. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a moderately priced hotel? I guess convenience to Zurich sights and ease of train transportation to airport would be optimum. How about places to eat as well?

Hi,
Someone here recommended to me the HOTEL ZURICHBERG. I loved it. It's up on a hill away from the clammer. It is very close to the tram, which takes about 18 - 20 minutes to reach the main Bohnhoff area. There was a shuttle (not free) to get from the airport to hotel. Breakfast is included at the Hotel Zurichberg. I actually did grab and go eating and don't a specific restaurant recommendation. The hotel does have their own restaurant, though.

Enjoy Zurich

What is moderately priced to you? Zurich can be expensive in general.

About a year ago my husband and I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel for a night. It was, what I considered, a moderately priced hotel for Zurich. It was about $175 USD at the time. Just a block or so from the water, and next door to what was called the best Thai restaurant in Zurich.

We always stay at the Seidenhof. It is a short walk (one short block) behind the Bahnhofstrasse (the main shopping street) and then about 3 blocks down the Bahnhofstrasse to get to the main train station. Very convenient. Price is probably $175-200 range.

The Seidenhof has a restaurant in the lobby, which is quite good. But there are also lots of other places to dine within easy walking distance. Depends on the kind of food you are wanting.

If you can "make do" with takeout food, the basement level of the Jelmoli Department Store (right outside the front door of the Seidenhof) has a wonderful selection of all types of food!! Yummmmmm!! We often shop there and carry back to our room to eat, with a bottle of nice red wine.

I absolutely LOVE Zurich. Will be there again twice in mid- and then again late- March, flying in and out of ZRH.
