Hohenschwangau stairs

I know Neuschwanstein has about 300 stairs, and that is about 250 more than my mother can do. How about Hohenschwangau? Anybody have a rough estimate if there are a lot of stairs.

Thanks,

Keith

My recollection from 2 years ago is that Hoh had about 50-75% as many stairs, and that the outdoor areas of it (e.g., verandas) were uneven.

Since stairs are a problem, head for Linderhof. Much less of a problem, and the gardens are lovely.

There are special tours for the mobility impaired. Don't know if your mother would meet the requirements, but they are explained on the website.

Another of King Ludwig's palaces/castles is on the Herrenchiemsee island in the Chiemsee (lake) east of Munich.Boats leave from Prien/Stock.

From the boat landing site on the island, horsedrawn carriages drop you off right in front of the palace. It was King Ludwig's own version of Versailles. Beautiful gardens and interesting interior, with fewer steps than the Koenigschloesser near Fuessen

You can get from Munich by train to Prien in about 56 minutes. From there you can take another steam train (in the summer months) or a bus to Stock, 4km from the center of Prien.

Fir train schedules check www.bahn.de
