Train to Herrenchiemsee???

We are leaving on Friday for Munich. Does anyone know how if there is a train to Herrenchiemsee? We won't have a car and would like to see this castle! Many thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, you take a train to Prien. At the Prien station there is a little steam train to the dock, from which you catch a boat to the island on which Herrenchiemsee is located.

If you don't wish to wait for the train from Prien to the dock at Stock it is easily walkable..there is a walkway near the railway tracks. The whole thing is within the two towns (Prien and Stock).

The steamer across to the island itself takes about 20 minutes. This is a wonderful excursion and I hope you enjoy it.

The train from Munich Central to Prien takes about an hour & about 15 minutes less if you catch it from Munich East.
